There are two NBS Building specification clauses which relate to our products:

  • E40 – Designed joints in in situ concrete
  • E41 – Worked finishes to in situ concrete

The following specification text can be used - inserting the product of your choice where xxxxx is shown.

E40 – Designed joints in in situ concrete


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
110 ACCURACY:  All joints to be accurately located, straight and well-aligned, and truly vertical or horizontal or parallel with the setting out lines of the building.

120 CONSTRUCTION/MOVEMENT JOINTS: (LOCATIONS TO BE DETERMINED BY SPECIALIST SLAB SUBCONTRACTOR)
All formed joints in slabs to be left as a power trowelled self finish.  Joints are to be formed using xxxxx by Permaban Ltd.
Form joints accurately to detail and in locations shown on the drawings.  If modifications to any joint design or location are necessary on site, agree revisions with the engineer before proceeding.
Do not allow concrete to enter any gaps or voids in the formwork or to render the movement joints ineffective.
Do not allow concrete to impregnate or penetrate any materials used as compressible joint filters.

210 FORMED JOINTS:  Joints are to be formed using using xxxxx by Permaban Ltd. 
Form joints accurately to detail and in locations shown on the drawings.  If modifications to any joint design or location are necessary on site, agree revisions with the engineer before proceeding.

 

E41 – Worked finishes to in situ concrete


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
405 DRY-SHAKE FINISH.  Following placing and levelling of the concrete, the floor shall be hardened by the application of Permaban xxxxx Dry Shake hardener, colour xxxxx, applied at the rate of xkg/m2. 

The Dry Shake Hardener shall be applied strictly in accordance with the current product technical datasheet, specification and instructions for use by a Permaban approved contractor and shall be finished by repeated passes with a power trowel to provide a fully close dense consistent surface finish. 
The floor shall conform to the requirements of BS2050 for industrial anti-static floors. 
Material requiring site batching shall not be approved. 
The manufacturer shall be registered to ISO 9001 Quality Assurance.
After finishing the power trowelling operation Permaban xxxxx concrete sealer shall be applied at an application rate of xm2 per litre, strictly in accordance with the current product technical datasheet, specification and instructions for use. 
The Dry Shake Hardener shall have been tested for abrasion resistance to BS8204: Part 2: 1999 Table 4 Classification of Abrasion Resistance and limiting depths of wear for the accelerated abrasion test and achieved an abrasion wear of less than 0.025mm on concrete not greater than 35N/mm2 with a cement content less than 325kg/m2. 
The floor shall be constructed in a weatherproof structure. 
Apart from saw cutting of induced joints, the floor shall be left undisturbed for 3 full days after construction. 
The main contractor shall provide and maintain protection from any subsequent site operations in this contract.
