Shutter UP!

For 24 years PERMABAN have been developing a range of shutters, joints and dowel systems for a variety of prestigious and sometimes unusual projects throughout the flooring industry.

Demands are constantly changing with architects, engineers, main contractors and flooring contractors taking on more and more complicated buildings and structures.  PERMABAN have kept pace with this demand and responded by manufacturing to order ‘special' shutters and joints based on our ‘Beta Joint' range from 50mm to 500mm deep. These joints and shutters are individually designed to construct steps in slabs, stop-ends and joints in concrete roads, manhole surrounds, rail track shutters and multi-storey metal decking structures where clean finishes and tight tolerances are an essential Health & Safety requirement.

We manufacture the ‘Beta Joint' range in two basic designs with the ‘Strip or Top' design being the most favoured. PERMABAN manufacture these joints in two gauges (2.0 and 2.5mm Heavy Duty) from galvanised steel plate. To compliment these shutters and joints, PERMABAN add the award-winning Diamond and Alpha dowel systems to provide the ultimate in load transfer when a movement joint is required.  However we can provide simple shutters for tied joints and rebar slabs where traditional dowel bars are required. We can add a sealant void former to the Strip joint range to provide a 10mm x 10mm void when additional sealant fillers are required.

All the shutters and joints we manufacture are ‘leave in place' systems.  These do not require striking out after the slab has been laid and only need to be installed once. To make the installation of our joint ranges as simple and accurate as possible we have also developed four main types of installation. We have the reusable Alphafix bracket, the Alphafoot, the pinning/welding method and the ‘mini' Alphafoot for fixing small joints - less than 120mm deep - on concrete slabs or metal decking.
