RAF Cottesmore
RAF Cottesmore "Airblast" unit.
When the RAF needed a bespoke solution to a floor problem, Permaban flew to the rescue! The "Airblast" unit is a powerful paint stripper that fires thousands of polymeric beads at the RAF jets, removing the paint without damaging the multi-million pound aircraft. The polymeric beads are then collected and recycled. The support for the unit required a concrete slab with a stepped joint - these are normally very time consuming to install using traditional timber shuttering. However, by using a modified version on Permaban's successful "BetaJoint", Fine Tolerance Flooring were able to create the step in a single operation - pouring both the higher and lower side of the joint in a single operation. The BetaJoint stepped unit is designed to provide an accurate level for both the lower and higher side of the joint, and so that the exposed face of the higher concrete slab is fully protected in galvanised steel. Of course you don't have to own a fleet of high tech fighter aeroplanes to use this product - it is equally suited to created stepped details for a variety of reasons - for example leaving recesses for tiling or chemically resistant screeds to be applied at a later date.
