IKEA Distribution Centre

Oldroyds Industrial Flooring installed nearly 2,000 linear metres of Permaban "AlphaJoint" in the new extension to Ikea's Distribution Centre in Armthorpe near Doncaster. In addition over 1,000 Permaban Alpha Dowels were used to provide load transfer in the high bay racking area. Alpha Dowels are easier to use than traditional dowels, requiring only the sleeve to be nailed to the timber. The timber is thus much easier to remove, resulting in less damage to the concrete edge, and the Alpha Dowels are slotted into the sleeve prior to the next pour - so no dowels are left protruding to be damaged or cause trip hazards. In service, the Alpha Dowel is more efficient that round dowels, allowing them to be spaced further apart. The unique patented design allows free movement within the plane of the floor, thus eliminating cracks caused by restraint of movement of the slab.
