Focus on the Permaban Method! The floor at the new Focus store at Buxton was installed using Permaban materials, but the results are about more than the products used, they are about the method employed - The Permaban Method! The Method involves careful attention to the detail at every stage, and the close co-operation of Permaban, the main contractor, specialist flooring contractor and concrete supplier. There are many pitfalls that can occur prior to installation of a concrete slab. None of them are insurmountable, but they are all best handled when there is plenty of tome still left - not when there are two or three concrete mixers just about to discharge onto the sub-base! In this case, a timely pre-contract meeting between Permaban, ABS Brymar, Winfield Construction and Cemex helped identify the particular challenges of laying a floor in an area with a limited rate of concrete supply. Knowing that the concrete supply rate would be an issue, Cemex allocated more trucks than would be normal to the job and so helped keep the installation going at an acceptable speed. With the benefit of the pre-contract meeting and a very able site installation crew, ABS installed a very high quality Permashake floor with Alphajoint free movement joints. ABS ably assisted by Winfield's attention to the weatherproofing of the building and Cemex's best efforts to supply the concrete. Focus are delighted with the result, and all future stores will benefit from the same method.
