RAF Cottesmore
PRODUCT USED
Permaban's successful BetaJoint was used on the RAF Cottesmore project.
BetaJoint is an easily installed, adjustable, Leave-in-Place joint system used with the bolt-on feet. Beta products are also punched to suite the Permaban AlphaFix method of installation; to provide ‘micrometer' adjustment in order to achieve superflat floor tolerance.
CLIENT PROFILE
RAF Cottesmore has an important role and a high profile, and this looks set to continue into the future. On 1 April 2000, Joint Force Harrier - one of the key initiatives to come out of the Strategic Defense Review - was formed. In the current crisis Joint Force Harrier will see RAF Harriers and Royal Navy Sea Harriers operating as part of a combined force, able to present a significant and credible threat of force in support of UNSCR 1441.
The Harrier Force is now flying the Harrier GR9/9A and shortly the whole fleet will be converted through utilising the proficient skills of RAF engineers and BAE Systems working in partnership at RAF Cottesmore. The Harrier Force is committed to support our coalition partners in Afghanistan and recently a roulement of aircraft delivered the first GR9As into our theatre of sustained operations.
BUSINESS NEEDS
The RAF Cottesmore ‘Alphablast' unit needed a solution to a floor problem. The support for the unit required a concrete slab with a stepped joint.
SOLUTION
By using a modified version of Permaban's successful ‘BetaJoint', Fine Tolerance Flooring were able to create the step in a single operation - pouring both the higher and lower side of the joint in a single operation.
RESULTS
The BetaJoint stepped unit provided an accurate level for both the lower and higher side of the joint so the exposed face of the higher concrete slab is fully protected in galvanized steel.
